The creation of a blog

Sometimes, I have to wonder what the hell I'm doing here, writing up a first post for a blog that I don't even know if it will work for more than a few weeks. I can imagine that hundreds, if not thousands of people around the globe have done exactly what I am doing at this moment, with giddy fingers and fluttering thoughts, eagerly creating a webpage through this rather enjoyable automated process (good on 'ya, Blogger!) for whoever might have the patience and luck of stumbling upon their page among the multitudes available out there on the blogosphere (or the entire web, for that matter).

What are their goals, their hopes, their aspirations when creating this sharing space, this window into their souls? Perhaps they are looking for attention, perhaps they have a message to share, a desire to find kindred spirits or simply want to make a quick buck (can you even make money with a blog? That's food for thought right there...).

Most of you undoubtedly can guess that I'm sharing my own thoughts on what can be done with a blog, while transposing them to the third person (Caesar did that, I'm told. Gads, the ego!) and attempting to distance myself from any trace of presumption in doing so.

(Maybe not.)

Arh, I'm rambling. Yay for first posts.

To the matter at hand then. This blog is a first attempt at producing a content rich website on a topic that I know about. This being outdoor activities, as I know them and experience them, in eastern Québec (my home area).

There will be content, guides and reviews pertaining to techniques, equipment, locations and more. There will be images, videos (hopefully), presentations, maps and other supporting media to enrich the quality of the material found here.

All that, and more! (I sound like a paid-programming television host. Don't laugh, please.)

Keep in mind that this is a hobby (for now) that I hope I can maintain and update regularly, but for now I have no regular posting schedule in mind.

Also, I fully reserve the right to delete any moronic and detrimental comments that I happen to stumble upon. Otherwise, comment away (in french, if you want).

That's that. Welcome to the Peakfetch Outside blog!
